Questions about whether Trump’s trial will be helpful or harmful to his White House ambitions are at worst disastrous
It’s a circus in New York. We’re witnessing the standard cornucopia of Trump’s idiot festival – porn stars, news frenzies, conspiracies, all-caps social media attacks. But to treat it as a party political question is to miss the constitutional significance of what is taking place. This is not about party politics. It’s about whether the law applies to everyone, no matter how famous or how powerful. And there is only one possible answer to that question.
