Australia tourist towns brace for floods in aftermath of cyclone Jasper

Tropical Cyclone Jasper caused flash flooding in Australia's northeast region, uprooting trees, leaving thousands without power, and forcing evacuations and road closures. The storm hit the far north regions of Queensland, home to resorts along the Great Barrier Reef. It has now been downgraded to a tropical low but could intensify back to cyclonic strength over the weekend. The Bureau of Meteorology warned of heavy rain and the potential for life-threatening flash flooding. About 40,000 properties are without power, and clean-up operations are underway.
