The Sentry seeks a highly motivated and technically proficient Cybersecurity and IT Consultant to be responsible for designing and implementing cybersecurity policies and maintaining the technological and digital infrastructure necessary for The Sentry team to securely collaborate, investigate, and publish. This specialist will also be responsible for bringing new technologies and standards to propel The Sentry’s work.
Responsibilities:
Cybersecurity
1. Design, implement, and manage security measures to protect The Sentry’s website, information systems, servers, and networks.
2. Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and address potential risks.
3. Monitor security alerts and incidents, investigate and respond to security breaches, and implement corrective actions.
4. Stay current with industry trends, emerging threats, and technologies to continuously improve The Sentry’s cybersecurity.
5. Provide security awareness training to staff and promote a culture of cybersecurity across the organization, including providing one-on-one support where needed.
IT Infrastructure
1. Maintain The Sentry’s application server and performing troubleshooting for ongoing issues.
2. Maintain, update, and monitor system health for neo4j database.
3. Set up new open-source applications for secure use by The Sentry’s Investigations team.
4. Remotely provide technical support to employees, including configuring and installing software, monitoring system performance, and assisting implementing new technologies and security standards.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in cybersecurity roles, with a focus on writing policy, developing best practices, threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management.
3. Strong knowledge of website security principles, network security, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption technologies.
4. Linux proficiency with ability to set up open-source containerized applications in a secure environment and maintain application servers.
5. Experience with security assessment tools and methodologies.
6. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly desirable.
7. Familiarity with neo4j or other graph databases is highly desirable.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment remotely
