Delegation to UNPFII 2024

1 week ago 33

The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung—New York Office, together with our partner organization MADRE, has welcomed a delegation of Indigenous women leaders from across the world to participate at the 23rd session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at the UN Headquarters in New York.

Coming from different regions of the world with particular needs and demands, the delegation finds common ground on issues like women’s rights, climate justice, and the impacts caused by militarism, capitalism, and extractivism in their territories.

The group wrote a statement to the Permanent Forum in which they address the pressing issues concerning Indigenous peoples and issue a set of recommendations aimed at safeguarding the lives and rights of Indigenous activists and guaranteeing an effective and active participation of Indigenous advocates at all levels of policy-making.
