Win for Milei, who is often compared to Donald Trump, ‘celebrated in Spain with special joy’, says far-right Vox leader

During his campaign, far-right libertarian Javier Milei vowed to abolish Argentina’s central bank and dollarise the economy. “I know how to exterminate the cancer of inflation,” he said.

Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, congratulated Milei on his election victory and said “we look forward to working closely with him and his administration”.
