Dame Vera Baird KC, the former victims’ commissioner for England and Wales, has been asked to examine the cases of three women who have accused a police force of unjustified strip-searches.

Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, said he had ordered a review of the “extremely distressing” detentions by Greater Manchester police (GMP).
