The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung – New York Office (further: RLS NYC) is looking for a creative support for the period 7-1-2024 to 12-31-2024 (possibly with extension) to manage the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung – New York Office’s German and English-language social media channels:

The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung is an internationally operating, progressive nonprofit institution for civic education. The foundation’s New York Office is part of the global network of the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung since 2012. It serves two major tasks: to work on issues concerning the United Nations, including collaboration with people and political representatives from the Global South, and to work with North American (US and Canadian) progressives in universities, unions, social movements, progressive institutions and think tanks. The office’s Director is Stefan Liebich.

Tasks

Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung – New York Office is seeking a qualified and experienced Community Manager with experience in working with non-profit organizations interested in community branding, educational communication and content and event promotion through social media marketing. The Community Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage our community members, cultivate relationships, and facilitate meaningful dialogue around political initiatives.

The contractor will support us in managing our social media channels in German and English. The content of the contributions will be planned together and discussed in smaller editorial rounds, but the formulation and design can be implemented creatively in line with our style guidelines.

With regard to the topics, content on key aspects related to our programs in the US, Canada, Germany and the United Nations should be covered. The articles and texts on our website as well as all the available content already published on our social media can be used for this purpose. The main tasks include

  • Writing in English and German posts for all social media accounts based on existing texts from the RLS NYC website as well as editing video and audio for “Guten Morgen Amerika” video podcast;
  • Develop and execute community engagement strategies across various online platforms;
  • Create daily copy for social media, newsletters, and the website based on content provided by RLS NYC in both German and English;
  • Create images, banners, flyers, etc, for our content to post on RLS NYC channels;
  • Monitor online discussions and respond to inquiries or comments in a timely and professional manner;
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of community engagement initiatives and provide data for monitoring reports;
  • Maintain consistent communication with the project manager for preparation, implementation, and approval of the editorial design for the of social media channels as well as reporting on community engagement activities and outcomes, including one weekly remote meeting with the project manager and ongoing email correspondence throughout the week;
  • Identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration with other organizations, influencers, and stakeholders in the political space.
  • Stay informed about relevant political issues, trends, and developments to inform and adapt content creation and engagement strategies in consultation with the responsible colleagues at RLS NYC.

Scope and duration of the contract

The scope of work is expected to be 5 hours per week in the period from 07-1-2024 to 08-31-2024 and 10 hours per week from 09-1-2024 to 12-31-2024. An adjustment of the scope of work according to the needs of the client is possible by agreement of both contracting parties, fewer hours would also be conceivable.

Applicants submit an offer stating prices (fee rate per hour). We also request: a brief overview of previous experience with social media, including submission of a comparable work sample. You are welcome to accompany your application with a short letter of motivation.

If applicants are subject to VAT, this must be stated in the application. The VAT will then be paid additionally. If no notification is made, the gross amount will be charged.
