Jamaal Bowman says he will pay a fine for pulling fire alarm before House vote

Democratic congressman, who was attacked by Republicans for action, said he mistakenly thought pulling alarm would open door

The Democratic New York congressman Jamaal Bowman said he would pay a fine for pulling a fire alarm in a congressional building as a crucial vote neared last month.

In a statement, Bowman said: “I’m thankful for the quick resolution from the District of Columbia attorney general’s office on this issue and grateful that the United States Capitol police general counsel’s office agreed I did not obstruct nor intend to obstruct any House vote of proceedings.
