The new draft agreement in Dubai emphasised the need to 'transition away' from fossil fuels and 'accelerate action' during this critical decade. It explicitly called on all nations to contribute by taking a series of actions, including transitioning away from fossil fuels in energy systems and achieving net zero by 2050. The draft also asserts phase-downs of 'unabated coal power' and phasing out inefficient fossil fuel subsidies. However, it does not use the term 'phase-out' when referring to fossil fuels.
