Nursing Florida’s Ailing Manatees Back to Health

A huge number of the giant sea cows have been released back into the wild after a long convalescence, to make room for others at places like SeaWorld as a troubling die-off continues.

ORANGE CITY, Fla.—Bianca was a mere calf when she was rescued in 2021 from Florida’s ailing Indian River Lagoon. After a long recovery at SeaWorld she finally swam back into the wild, one of a huge number of rehabilitated manatees to be released this month in the state.
