National leaders and royals among those gathered to see Pope Francis bury his predecessor
The former pope Benedict XVI has been laid to rest after a funeral in a mist-filled St Peter’s Square attended by an estimated 50,000 Catholics.
Benedict died on Saturday, aged 95, almost a decade after becoming the first pope in 600 years to resign.
