The airline’s defence to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission legal action denies it charged customers a ‘fee for no service’

Qantas has claimed that informing customers that it had already cancelled flights they were booked on would have created “uncertainty and frustration”, as the airline accuses the competition watchdog of ignoring the realities of the aviation industry.

The embattled airline has also staunchly denied it had charged customers a “fee for no service”, as it filed its legal defence responding to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) legal action alleging it had advertised and sold tickets for more than 8,000 flights that it had already cancelled in its internal system.
