Sameera Zaib: climate resilience infrastructure, and sustainable provision of water and sanitation to communities

10 months ago 59

I have become more conscious about the impacts of various activities on climate change and how these impacts can be minimised or controlled. Primarily now I am working with local communities in Pakistan and making them aware of the unprecedented effects of climate change and hence mobilising them towards resource efficiency, particularly water conservation, and safe disposal of municipal waste instead of burning it, reuse and recycling of waste, institutional capacity building for climate resilience infrastructure.

I am also sensitising the policymakers and decision-makers to adopt environment-friendly solutions, controlling vehicular emissions through machinery audit and procurement of energy-efficient equipment. Currently, I am implementing renewable energy and energy efficiency (REEE scale) projects in Mardan and holding institutional and staff capacity in developing energy management systems, and reduction in energy consumption and ultimately reduction in GHGs.
