Five people have died in Tuscany as Storm Ciarán swept through central and northern Italy overnight, bursting river banks and causing severe flooding. Announcing a state of emergency, Eugenio Giani, the president of Tuscany, described the situation as 'really very serious'. Several people have been reported missing as of Friday morning.
