In early June, when North Carolina’s Democratic governor Roy Cooper said that would be impossible to arrange amid a pandemic, noting in a letter to the RNC that “it is unlikely that we would be to the point at the end of August to be able to have a jam-packed 19,000-person convention,” Trump said they were “forced” to choose a different city to host the event.
