Exclusive: Government to back motion to investigate changing state’s Family Violence Protection Act
The Victorian government will consider including cruelty to animals as an offence under the state’s domestic and family violence laws, backing an Animal Justice push to review the current legislation.
Guardian Australia has confirmed the government will support a motion on Wednesday, to be put forward by the Animal Justice party MP Georgie Purcell, to investigate changing the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 to include an animal cruelty offence.
